The Board of Trustees of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Larry Ladd to the position of Financial Advisor. This appointment fills the current vacancy in that position until a special election can be held at the next General Assembly.
The UUA Financial Advisor is one of the three officers of the Association elected directly by General Assembly (the others being the Moderator and President) and serves with those officers on the UUA Board of Trustees. The Financial Advisor position was created in 1967 to provide the Board of Trustees and Administration with independent and expert advice on business and financial matters and to report annually to the congregations on the UUA’s financial condition. The Financial Advisor serves ex-officio on all UUA committees concerned with governance, business, and finance.
Larry Ladd is an active Unitarian Universalist (UU) lay leader who has recently completed terms as chair of the UUA Nominating Committee and as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Meadville Lombard Theological School. He served previously as UUA Financial Advisor from 1997-2005. His wife, daughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law are all UU ministers. This year, he received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Meadville Lombard in recognition of his service to Unitarian Universalism. Professionally, he is director of the national higher education practice for Grant Thornton LLP, having previously served as director of budget and financial planning at Harvard University and chief operating and financial officer of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
