Health and Family Justice

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) works to ensure that all families are valued, healthy, and safe. Our work on Health and Family Justice includes supporting access to comprehensive sexuality education, reproductive choice, Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender rights and marriage equality. We celebrate family diversity, and we work to end violence—both hate crimes in our communities and domestic violence in our homes.

Oftentimes health and family issues are considered to be strictly women's issues, especially regarding reproductive health and abortion rights. This narrow conception of health and family removes important perspectives from discussion and action. Wholeness begins at home and as a religious community we must understand the ways in which all of these issues affect our own families, our communities, and our society. The UUA and Unitarian Universalist's have a long legacy of support for these issues and we must continue being leaders in this important justice work.
