Question Prompts: Issues that Face Campus Ministries

Emerging

  • Who
    • needs to be invulved to have a successful campus ministry? (from congregation, cullege, and wider communities)
  • What
    • does campus ministry look and feel like?
    • do the students being served need?
  • How
    • Do we create and establish a radically inclusive community? (recruitment and creating community, setting group dynamics and environment)
    • Do we convince our congregational community this is important ministry, worthy of our time, energy and funding?
  • Why
    • are we providing this ministry?

Forming

  • Who
    • could be served by this ministry who is not? (are we welcoming to historically marginalized communities? raised uus? new uus? “non-traditional” students?)
  • What
    • are activities we could be doing to mix things up and attract a wider audience?
  • How
    • do we incorporate spirituality, worship, social justice and interfaith work?
    • can we sustain vulunteer interest/support and prevent vulunteer burnout?
  • Why
    • are we providing this ministry?

Growing

  • Who
    • is in our group now and how do we change our format to serve them and not those who were being served when group was established?
  • What
    • are our weaknesses?
    • are our strengths?
  • How
    • do we want to grow? How do we do this?
  • Why
    • are we providing this ministry?

Re-invisioning

  • Who
    • are our untapped local and continental allies in this work, and how do we partner with them?
    • in the larger community could benefit from this ministry?
  • What
    • does our congregation and wider community stand to gain from doing this ministry?
    • do we do when we could be growing but we have an established group that would no longer be an intimate community if it grew in size?
  • How
    • do we use this ministry to become more visible in the larger neighborhood community?
    • do we incorporate our campus ministries more fully into multi-generational community?
  • Why
    • are we providing this ministry?
