Chrysalis Youth Ministry Training Program
The Youth Ministries Office offers a variety of trainings for youth and adults, focusing on a wide range of issues important to youth ministry.
In 2004 the Youth Ministries Office launched a new recognition program, called the Chrysalis Program, for acknowledging youth and adults who have invested time and effort in attending these trainings and building the skills they need for ministry with youth.
Below you will find details about a number of different kinds of trainings offered by the Youth Ministries Office.
Among these trainings are:
- Leadership Development Conference (LDC)
- Spirituality Development Conference (SDC)
- Basic Youth Advisor Training (BAT)
- Advanced Youth Advisor Training (AAT)
- Chaplain Training (CT)
For more information about youth and young adult anti-racism trainings, please visit our Groundwork page.
Trainings are generally organized by districts or regions. If you are interested in planning a training, please visit our Training Request Page. Please be sure to read the Chrysalis Training Planning Guide (PDF) (Word) before you request a training; it contains valuable information which you'll need to know.
If you've attended two or more Chrysalis Trainings, you can submit your
information to be recognized through our Chrysalis Recognition program. Just
fill out the information on our Chrysalis Verification Form. For
more information about the Chrysalis Training Program, and what it means to
receive Recognition, read the Chrysalis Program Manual
(PDF, 16 pages).
What are these trainings about and how
can they help us?
A
well-planned training can
produce amazing results. They can
provide energy to
rebuild a
struggling youth program or maintain a
strong one by increasing the
pool of able and enthusiastic youth and
advisors, enhancing
youth-adult
communications, and increase the skills
and tools
of the youth and advisors
leading your group.
Chrsysalis Trainings, a Training for the Ministry With Youth Renaissance Module, and the Our Whole Lives: Grades 7-9 and Grades 10-12 leader trainings all help adults in their key role in youth ministry. Contact your UUA district staff or Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC) representative, sylvia @ cuc.ca, to find out more about these and other trainings in your area!
