Demographic Research and Information
Many of our congregations use demographic information to help them successfully plan their congregation's growth and outreach efforts. Suggested questions to ask and answer are included in the document Planning a Ministry Focus from Your Ministry Area Profile (PDF). We have contracted with a demographic company called Percept Group, Inc. to get congregations a discount rate on a demographics package.What Factors Are Included
Included in the package you will get the following data in tabular form:
- The latest 2000 census & June 2006 latest updated information (updated every six months) for the study area(s) you have chosen for your ministry area,
- Trends and year 2011 projections,
- U.S. Lifestyle (a combination of several census fields information),
- A guide to help you utilize this information.
InfoMaps
Also, you will receive six graphic representations of this data in the six InfoMaps that you select.
The InfoMaps can show many different types of demographic information. In fact, you have over seventy types of information from which to choose your six InfoMaps. Examples of demographic information that you can choose are Lifestyle Diversity, Median Age, Five Year Growth, Percentage of 2000 College Graduates and number of Unitarian Universalists. You will be given a Young Adult Info Map (#85 on the list, see order form) free of charge, courtesy of the Young Adult and Campus Ministry office!
Costs
The cost of the package is $195. The price has gone down starting July 2008. If you would like additional InfoMaps, beyond the six included, the cost is $20 per extra map. And remember that you will be given a Young Adult Info Map (#85 on the list, see order form) free of charge, courtesy of the Young Adult and Campus Ministry office! The Young Adult Map is your 7th InfoMap, you still have 6 to select included in the package.
Study Area Definitions
If your study area choice is a polygon (see order form), please contact the Growth Services Program Manager to see how to order this.
More than 20 zip codes in your study area becomes too many for the study.

On the order form for the Ministry Area Profile be sure to put the email address where you would like to receive the study. To save shipping costs Percept sends a PDF file via email.
