October 2009: Resources for Your Congregation
Dear Friends,
To help get your autumn off to a great start, we at the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) have a variety of resources and opportunities to offer.
The UUA's Standing on the Side of Love campaign to harness love’s power to stop oppression provides materials to help every congregation to get involved. These include a petition calling for full equality under the law for bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender (BGLT) people.
The Office of Worship and Music Resources reminds you that the WorshipWeb is available on UUA.org. WorshipWeb is designed to help congregations make the most of their worship services. With the ongoing addition of worship materials provided by lay leaders and staff from our member congregations, the WorshipWeb continues to grow.
Our Stewardship and Development staff group is now accepting submissions for the annual Stewardship Sermon Award. This $1,000 award is given in recognition of sermons that best explore and promote financial support of our Unitarian Universalist (UU) faith. All religious professionals and seminarians are encouraged to enter.
In honor of Margaret Fuller, the UUA Margaret Fuller Bicentennial Committee is planning a celebration for the 2010 General Assembly and sponsoring a hymn competition. The earliest deadline to submit entries will be in January 10, 2010, and the winner will receive a $500 cash prize.
Warmest Regards,
Rachel Walden
