A Home of Our Own
To be a faith community, to worship together as Unitarian Universalists (UUs) we need dedicated space, not someone else’s school, or another denomination’s church or a library or private home. We must help move all of our UU congregations that want to into permanent or dedicated space and eliminate “church in a box” mentality. We seek to launch a national project to buy buildings and have congregations pay back the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) over time or rent space that is appropriate for congregations to lease from the UUA.
- $50m can move many of our congregations into home of their own. We also seek to purchase land (min 5 acres) in high-growth areas to hold in anticipation of the energy for a new start congregation there.
- $100,000—$1 mil per purchase, depending on the area.
This initiative has not yet been funded. Please contact us if you're interested in making a gift to help fund this: email campaign @ uua.org, or call (888) 792-5885 and ask for a member of the campaign team.
