Fund for International Unitarian Universalism
Guidelines
Grants are made to Unitarian Universalist (UU) organizations or projects working internationally to:
- Promote the growth of Unitarian/Universalist ideals and values
- Strengthen Unitarian/Universalist institutions and community life
- Nurture and celebrate our free faith
- Encourage a generosity among Unitarian/Universalists that is reflected in commitments of time, money and energy.
Please Note: This Fund accepts applications once a year postmarked by March 15. If the 15th falls on a weekend, the deadline is the following Monday.
Funding Priorities
Priority is given to innovative, challenging or experimental programs or projects that address needs unmet by institutional structures. We prefer projects with plans for generating income from diverse sources, including contributions from members of the group applying. See Sample Grants.
Restrictions
Grants are not made to individuals. Grants are not usually made for equipment, capital campaigns, endowments or feasibility studies. Grants are not made for general operating expenses. Generally, one proposal from an organization will be considered each cycle.
Grant Size & Type of Funding
The maximum grant is $20,000. Challenge grants are a possibility. Grants are for one year. Second-year funding is possible after submitting a new proposal and a final (or interim report). Third-year funding for the same project is unusual. We are not sustaining funders. See the complete application process.
Questions for Narrative
Use the following questions for part C of “Materials to Be Included.” Type the question number and question before each response. Use at least 12 pt. type and 1” margins on one side only of white 8.5” x 11” paper.
In eight pages or less answer the following questions:
- Please give a fifty word summary of the project.
- Briefly describe the inception of this project.
- Describe more fully the project for which you are applying. What are the
goals of the project? What are the specific outcomes you anticipate?
- Give a timeline for meeting your goals.
- How will this project strengthen Unitarian/Universalism, its ideas,
influence and/or its organization?
- Name the individuals who will carry out the project’s plan and give a brief
summary of their skills and experiences relevant to this project.
- List the key individuals, committees or organizations that have contributed
to this project through money, time or other forms of support. What Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)
resources/departments have been consulted about this project?
- Please describe your plans for raising income in addition to the proposed
Unitarian Universalist Funding Program (UUFP) grant.
- What are your criteria for evaluating the success of your project? Please describe your plan for evaluation. See a Sample Evaluation Plan.
