Forrest Church Fund for the Advancement of Liberal Religion
Established in June of 2008, the Forrest Church Fund (FCF) for the Advancement of Liberal Religion is a tribute to the most influential Unitarian Universalist minister of the late 20th and early 21st Centuries. Through his words, both spoken and penned, created over the course of his extraordinary thirty year career as Minister of All Souls Unitarian Church in New York City, he has called Unitarian Universalists to wrestle with the compelling questions of life, faith, human frailty, and death—“the dual reality of being alive and having to die.” He has also been the unparalleled public voice of our faith.
This unrestricted endowment initiative is designed to honor Forrest’s legacy and to support Unitarian Universalism in its broadest dimensions. An oversight committee will monitor the FCF in consonance with the highest standards of financial management and stewardship.
The FCF will support such programs as public theology and independent scholarship, lectureships and conferences designed to expand the audience for Unitarian Universalism, radio and media outreach to those unfamiliar with our message, and other programs that will enhance the public voice of our faith.
