Helpful Tips for Planning a Successful Service
If Your Association Sunday Service is Scheduled for October 4, 2009
March (or 7 months before your service)
- Save the Date!
- Get authorization for a service and special collection.
April (or 6 months before your service)
- Put up the Association Sunday poster.
- Place a banner ad on your website.
- Do we have your request for envelopes yet?
May (or 5 months before your service)
- Look into doing a pulpit exchange with a neighboring congregation.
June (or 4 months before your service)
- Have you checked out our other online worship and organizing resources?
- Begin soliciting lead gifts, consider making one yourself!
July (or 3 months before your service)
- Do we have your service date and request for materials yet?
August (or 2 months before your service)
- Start organizing your service, including lay participation.
September (or 1 month before your service)
- Publicize your service and special collection in your newsletter.
- Ask for an average of $50 per member.
October (or the month of your service)
- Have a great Association Sunday!
- Tally and send in checks.
November (or one month after your service)
- Thank you so much for your participation!
- Don’t forget to send in your Association Sunday sermons!
- Our staff will send a memo back to your congregation with the total of the number and amount of donations received on behalf of your congregation shortly after Association Sunday. We’ll email or mail that to the person listed as your Association Sunday contact.
