Property Crisis: Too Much Property, Too Little Money

General Assembly 2007 Event 2058
Presenters: Glenn Maxwell, Colleen Dolan-Greene

Urban church, shrinking congregation, and rising expenses means financial disaster. With 90 years of history what can we do? Steps to convince the congregation to sell property, move into a smaller space, reduce expenses, become financially viable and build a new foundation for the future.

But the important thing is not the outcome.  The important thing is the process.

  • How did the task force coalesce?
  • How was conversation utilized in the task force and with the congregation?
  • What did we do to communicate with the congregation?
  • How did we finally clarify issues that were thirty years old?

Our hope is that these insights may help you in a similar situation.
