Careers and Callings in Unitarian Universalism

People work in Unitarian Universalism at the congregational, regional, and national levels in a variety of ways—as ministers, paid staff, and/or volunteers. Here is information for those looking for or working in a Unitarian Universalist career or calling.

Job Openings

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Office of Human Resources is responsible for benefits administration, compensation, employee relations, employment and equal employment opportunity, performance management, policies and procedures, and training and professional development for the UUA's national staff.

Please consider employment with us:

Professionals in Ministries and Faith Development

The Ministries and Faith Development (MFD) staff group serves Unitarian Universalism by creating healthy, transformative, multigenerational, and diverse ministries and religious education.

Ministers looking for congregations and congregations looking for ministers should see Ministerial Transitions. Credentialed Religious Educators and congregations looking for Directors of Religious Education (DREs) should go to DRE Search Process.

Benefits & Compensation

Questions regarding benefit plans for congregational employees (including retirement, health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, and disability insurance) or salary and compensation guidelines for ministers and other religious professionals should be directed to our Office of Church Staff Finances.

Congregational Staff & Volunteers

Whether your congregation employs a single part-time staff member or a diversified and specialized staff numbering in the dozens—or in countless configurations in between—it is important to staff in a way that promotes your congregation’s vision and mission while providing staff with the resources necessary to achieve what you expect of them. Our collection of staffing resources and policies for congregational personnel may be helpful to you as you consider how to best staff your congregation and encourage effective staff teams.

Questions regarding staffing, performance or other personnel issues at your congregation should be directed to your District Executive.
