In compliance with Rule #G-2.1. Democratic Process, all Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) committees, commissions and task forces should submit materials to web @ uua.org for posting on UUA.org.

Elected Committees

Board-Appointed Committees

NEW! The Committee on Committees of the UUA Board of Trustees is accepting applications for a ministerial vacancy on the West Regional Subcommittee on Candidacy* to fill out the remainder of a term until December 31, 2009. The appointee would be eligible for re-appointment to three more 2-year terms. In order to maintain balance on the panel, the CoC will focus on appointing a male minister at this time. Some background in mental health, testing, counseling preferred. Ministerial members of RSCC’s must be in full fellowship with the UUA. Members of UUA Committees must be able to demonstrate functional competency in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and multiculturalism. Travel and other meeting expenses are covered, per established guidelines. *The West RSCC includes these districts: Mountain Desert, Pacific Southwest, Pacific Central, Pacific Northwest.

NEW! The Committee on Committees of the UUA Board of Trustees is accepting applications for a layperson vacancy on the Ministerial Fellowship Committee, to fill out the remainder of a term until December 31, 2009. The appointee would be eligible for re-appointment to three more 2-year terms. Persons under 40 are especially encouraged to apply for this position. Members of UUA Committees must be able to demonstrate functional competency in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and multiculturalism. Travel and other meeting expenses are covered, per established guidelines.

NEW! The Committee on Committees of the UUA Board of Trustees is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Committee on Socially Responsible Investing. This would begin as a one-year term beginning January 1, 2009. The appointee would be eligible for re-appointment to three additional two-year terms. Applicants should have competence and experience with professional socially responsible investing and an awareness of social justice initiatives within our Association. Specific experience with shareholder advocacy would be a plus. Members of UUA Committees must be able to demonstrate functional competency in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and multiculturalism. Travel and other meeting expenses are covered, per established guidelines.

NEW! The Committee on Committees of the UUA Board of Trustees is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Commission on Social Witness, to fill out the remainder of a term until June, 2009. This is one of two Board-appointed positions on the Commission. The appointee would be eligible for re-appointment to two more 4-year terms. Candidates should have an understanding of the CSW process and a familiarity with our recent Statements of Conscience, current Study/Action Issues, and 2007-08 Actions of Immediate Witness. Significant social justice leadership and advocacy experience at the congregational and/or district level is equally important, as well as good writing skills and time available to fulfill a demanding committee workload.

The number of meetings varies from two to three, not counting General Assembly. The meetings range from 3 nights/days to a meeting planned for March 2009 that spans Sunday evening through the following Sunday at noon, with a half-day break mid-week.

Members of UUA Committees must be able to demonstrate functional competency in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and multiculturalism. Travel and other meeting expenses are covered, per established guidelines.

Persons of color or from other under-represented groups, and persons residing outside the Northeast corridor are especially encouraged to apply for this position.
